Oh look. A talk about how newbies don't know copyright. My favorite.

Okay so. Ahem. This is gonna be one of my serious blogs.

God, am I even remembered by this place anymore? xD Its been ages since my last blog lol.

Anyway though, lets get straight to the point. Art theft on this wiki.

Yes, it is a thing. I have recently noticed quite a few new users using art they found on various sites in their fanfics as covers/illustrations.

WITHOUT CREDIT.

You see why this is a problem, right?

Art theft is very stressful for the artist. Its an awful feeling to know that other people benefit, or, god forbid, make money from your art. It obviously isn't the case here, but you get my point.

In my opinion, its just a matter of time until some artist finds out. And if they happen to be a very emotional person, this might be quite an issue. They might send they possibly 1000+ followers to do something about it and in all honesty, I wouldn't blame them. They own full right to the picture. Just because it has no watermark doesn't mean it isn't copyrighted.

So please. If you want to use someone else's art, at least credit it.

Is it in the wiki rules? If it isn't, it should definitely be added. Art theft isn't something to take lightly. It's basically illegal.

Then there are bases. Again. Bases limit creativity. You can surely draw something. Even without a base. I would much rather see bad original art than base art.

Plus base art takes almost 0 effort. Very rarely I see base art that actually takes effort, or has shading or something fancy is on it. And if you have to, at least put some effort into it.

And since this is how it goes, I decided I will be a nice person and give you all an opportunity.

Link me a story in the comments (plus your opinion on the matter. If you just link the story I won't do it) that you want me to draw a cover for. I will do three. Sadly its not first come first serve. I will choose who I want to draw cover for. If you are my good friend, it doesn't mean I will choose you, and please don't be offended if I reject. Just please take no as a no.

Don't let that discourage you, though. Still feel free to link it. Who knows I might happen to like it.

So in conclusion, don't steal art kids.

Pumpkin, out.
