Jayfeather crept past the ferns. He held his breath in case someone heard him. There was a snap of a twig and Jayfeather tensed. He didn't move and smelled the air. There was a strange odor that Jayfeather hadn't noticed before. Something rustled in the bushes and Jayfeather turned his sightless blue eyes towards it.
Something rammed into him and he was pinned into the ground. He squirmed and clawed but the thing didn't let go. He smelled lilac and honey.
"Don't move." a silky voice told him.
The voice was so captivating that Jayfeather did what he was told.
A warm feeling washed over him and suddenly he could see. A silver she-cat was standing over him watching him with its blue eyes. It stepped back, allowing him to get up. He did so and the she-cat started washing itself.
"What? How?" he stuttered.
"I have a gift." The she-cat said.
"What's your name?" asked Jayfeather, intrigued.
"My name is Abigal. What's yours?" the she-cat answered.
"My name is Jayfeather. I'm the medicine cat of ThunderClan."he said.
"Jayfeather? That's a weird name." Abigal said.
"Not as weird as Abigal. What are you, a kittypet?" he said.
"What's a kittypet?" Abigal asked.
"It's a cat that belongs with the Two-legs." he said.
"What are Two-legs?" Abigal asked.
"The big tall furless things that walk on two legs." he explained.
"Oh. No, I don't live with the Two-legs."she said.
Jayfeather looked around and saw the forest. He had seen it in his dreams before, but this was a new experience. He stared at a bird singing in a tree and was watching a mouse scurry into a hole, when he felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned around and saw Abigal.
"What?" he asked.
"There's a catch to you being able to see." the she-cat told him. "Other cats won't be able to see you."
